Missionary Catechists of Divine Providence
We believe in creating opportunities for the laity to live out their baptismal call by inviting them to share in the charism, mission, and spirituality of the Missionary Catechists of Divine Providence. We trust in Providence and Our Lady of Guadalupe, our patroness, to guide us in this collaborative ministry to bring about the Reign of God.
Women and men who are non-vowed persons share in the charism and mission of the Missionary Catechists of Divine Providence. They desire to deepen their spirituality by promoting the works of the community by their present walk of life. The associates may be active or praying members.
In the associate formation process, we seek to provide a well-rounded and balanced formation experience by using the document, Co-Workers in the Vineyard of the Lord, published by the USCCB in 2005. The formation process outlined in this document has four dimensions: human, spiritual, intellectual, and pastoral. The foundation of these holistic approach is based on both biblical and theological principles. First, “we are created in God’s image” (Genesis 1:17), and secondly, through God’s Son, Jesus, we are redeemed and called to be whole (Colossians 1:14).
We believe that our commitment to the mission of Jesus is to heal, proclaim, and liberate (Luke 4:16). We invite you as associates to enter this process of transformation with us.
With the change of MCDP Leadership comes the change of Leadership among the MCDP Associates in the San Antonio area. For the past four years we had Carrie Morales, Coordinator, the late Frances Paiz, Treasurer; Elvira Alvarado, Hospitality; Hermelinda Franco, Ministry to the elderly at St. Andrew's; and Herlinda Sifuentes, Publicity. Their ministry to the Associates and to the congregation was outstanding. They served with pride and readily made themselves available to help out with expected and unexpected events at St. Andrew's Convent. To each we offer our deep appreciation and assure them of our continued prayers.
On Friday, September 28, the following members were briefed on the structure of the Associate Program. The members asked to serve were suggested by the Associate Core Team in the Spring . New members confirmed are:
Robert Higle Coordinator
Patricia Higle Secretary
Edna Damaris Ayala Treasurer/Hospitality
